I was driving through the countryside and noticed the brown grass by the side of the road… tall grasses surrounded by white snow.  It was beautiful to see these different kinds of grasses, and it made me wonder what all the green grass of summer was doing under the white snow.  What do you imagine about the world under the snow?  Do you have any favorite images or memory of things sticking out of the snow?

When grass florets are ripe they wait for a dry sunny day in May, June, or July and discharge their pollen in one burst. Mysteriously, this happens at the same time, day after day, until all the flowers of the plant have shed their pollen.
