When I was young I was in love with rocks.  I remember walking along a railroad track constantly finding beautiful smooth rocks of every color.  My pockets were full of treasure.  I once happily brought home bags and bags of asphalt.  The black rocks were so pretty to me.  Have you ever loved to collect things in nature?

The Earth is made of rock, from the tallest mountains to the floor of the deepest ocean. Most rocks at the Earth’s surface are formed from only eight elements (oxygen, silicon, aluminum, iron, magnesium, calcium, potassium, and sodium), but these elements are combined in a number of ways to make thousands of very different rocks.
