Sitting in a park I saw the rings of an old log.  The texture and grooves and lines were so beautiful.  The life and seasons of this tree’s life made me feel how time for a tree must be so different.

Rings on trees show the rate of growth for the tree.  In the north, the rings are pronounced as there is great growth in the spring and summer and then slowed growth in the fall and winter.  Rings in tropical climates reflect wetter and drier seasons, but tend to be much less distinct.
